LYNDEN, WA — After 30 successful years in business, Fairway True Value Hardware owner Irv Timmermans will retire at the end of August. Fortunately for Lynden residents, Whatcom Farmers Co-op (WFC) and Mr. Timmermans have finalized an agreement for the store on 17th Street in Lynden.
Fairway True Value will become a key addition to the WFC Retail Division beginning September 1, 2013, and will continue to serve the community as WFC Fairway True Value.
“I wanted to turn over the store to a company with the same values who would appreciate our employees and customers and continue our service to the community,” said Timmermans. “I have confidence that WFC is the best choice. I know the WFC team will continue with my philosophy of great customer service and excellent product knowledge. Jane and I want to thank the community for the support over the years.”
According to WFC CEO and general manager Don Eucker, all Fairway True Value employees will be retained. “Mr. Timmermans’ store has a reputation for treating customers and employees with respect,” he said. “Integrating his team into the WFC family strengthens our commitment to provide only the best service and products.” Eucker adds, “Our motto is ‘Everything for Home and Farm,’ and we look forward to increasing our ability to meet the community’s home, farm and agricultural needs by adding this store and the True Value product line to our retail division.”
The WFC retail division serves the communities of Lynden, Bellingham, Fairhaven, Ferndale, Blaine and Nooksack with home, farm and ranch supplies, hardware, and convenience stores. WFC also provides agronomy and energy services throughout Whatcom County.
Since 1982, Whatcom Farmers Co-op (WFC) has provided the products, services and knowledge that homeowners, farmers and agricultural businesses need through our retail and convenience stores, fueling stations, propane and fuel delivery, and agronomy services. A staff of trained employees offers professional advice. Co-op Membership is free but you don’t have to be a member to shop at WFC. For more information, visit www.wfcoop.com.
