In the days following severe flooding that struck the northwestern part of Washington state, CHS rallied around community members, customers, and patrons to aid in cleanup and rebuilding efforts.
“Nearly 1,400 homes were affected by flooding,” says Don Lien, interim general manager, CHS Northwest. “Our team has worked around the clock to help address immediate needs after the flooding to ensure our customers continue receiving safe and efficient heating for their homes.”
As flood waters slowly receded, CHS Northwest employees sprang into action, cleaning up debris, resetting propane tanks, and checking appliances and hot water heaters.
“Each and every day, our employees put in unlimited hours to help community members in need,” says Lien. “The cooperative spirit is certainly being shown in these trying times.”
To assist in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts, CHS donated $10,000 to the Whatcom Community Foundation’s Resilience Fund. Financial donations are being accepted at local CHS Northwest retail locations, with an additional $11,500 raised to-date. Two CHS Northwest vendors made product donations with local CHS Northwest employees assisting in that product distribution.
